Senior Vice President,
Dustin Owen serves as senior vice president and general manager of Accelerated Enrollment Solutions (AES), a PPD site conduct and patient enrollment business that includes a global network of more than 160 research sites spanning five continents and 16 countries. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing AES’ strategic direction, global operations and financial growth.
Dustin joined PPD in 2013 as executive director of strategic laboratory operations and was promoted to vice president of that function in 2016. Prior to his current position, Dustin served as vice president of clinical operations and head of PPD’s Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. He also serves as a board member of the PPD-SNBL joint venture in Japan.
Prior to PPD, Dustin’s experience included laboratory services and supply chain consulting for a variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, while working in the U.S., Europe, and APAC.
Dustin earned a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from Duke University.
Jenelle brings over a decade of human resources experience to her role at AES. She most recently served as director for human resource services, global business centers and corporate functions for VWR International, honing her skills in developing business unit strategy prior to joining AES in 2018.
Previously, Jenelle held roles with Nobel Learning Communities and Zimmerman Industries, through which she gained extensive experience in global talent strategy and organizational design. Her background involves work in all facets of human resources, including employee development, recruitment, workforce planning, benefits, HR administration and business partnering for a variety of client groups.
Jenelle graduated from Kutztown University with a major in biology and earned a Master’s degree in Administration at West Chester University.
Chief Medical Officer
As chief medical officer, Dawie’s vast of experience and high level of expertise has been the key driver in the development of our global presence since joining AES in 2016. Previously, he worked with Parexel International, a multinational life science company to establish a transparent operational governance process.
Dawie holds Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of the Free State in South Africa.
With more than 20 years of operations experience and a track record of successfully integrating and optimizing clinical research units, Reinhold leads Site Operations at AES. Prior to joining AES, Reinhold held senior leadership roles managing clinical pharmacology sites on a global level at PPD and Parexel, respectively.
Reinhold holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry and a Bachelor’s of Medical Sciences in Pharmacology from the University of the Free State in South Africa, and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
Chief Financial Officer
Richard leads the Accelerated Enrollment Solutions (AES) financial organization as chief financial officer. He joined AES, a PPD business, by way of PPD, where he started in 2004 as an analyst in global clinical development (GCD) operations finance, and where he has progressively grown and developed his role over the years. Prior to his latest role, Richard most recently led the Procurement, Real Estate & Facilities including Health & Safety, and the Global Finance Shared Service Centers, and previously served as co-head of GCD operations finance group since 2016. He was promoted to vice president in 2018 in recognition of his many contributions, including overseeing and improving financial controls and processes in operations finance. He has played an instrumental role in leading critical projects including Mosaic, global billing and numerous other initiatives.
Previously, Richard established and led the strategic finance team and served as business partner to the chief commercial officer for five years. He is based in Cambridge, England.
Riaan leads the Global Project Delivery team for AES. A medical doctor by training, he worked in the public and private health sectors in both South Africa and the United Kingdom before joining the pharmaceutical industry in 2007. He has held various positions of leadership in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries before joining AES in 2016.
Riaan holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) degree from the University of Pretoria in South Africa, a Diploma in Obstetrics from the College of Medicine South Africa, and a Masters of Business Leadership from the University of South Africa.
Paul is Head of Commercial for Accelerated Enrollment Solutions and has been in drug development for over 20 years in various research and commercial roles. Prior to joining AES, Paul was a founding member of PPD Biotech and Head of PPD Biotech in EMEA and East Coast, North America. Paul also held positions in drug development at PPD, Covance, Onyx Scientific, BOC, and Procter and Gamble. He holds a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Durham UK.
Chief Information Officer and VP,
Technology and Data Analytics
With more than 18 years of experience in the technology industry, Jeff is the AES Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Technology and Data Analytics. A recognized leader in the big data and analytics industry, he oversees AES’ data capabilities and technology in support of key business decisions, translating the organization’s global business priorities into operational tactics. Jeff joined AES in 2020 from Bentley Systems, where he was the Chief Data Officer.
Jeff has a BS in computer science from Providence College in Providence, RI, an MS in data science from Central Connecticut University, and recently completed a management capstone program at Yale University.
Vice President of Strategy & Innovation
With more than 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including working in large global contract research organizations, Chris leads strategy and innovation for AES. In this role, he is the key thought leader and architect of innovation and business unit strategies for the organization. Most recently, Chris was the Executive Director of Business Development for AES. He joined AES from PPD, were he was an Executive Director of Commercial Strategy. Prior to that, Chris held roles of increasing responsibility at Kineticos Life Sciences, Parexel, IQVIA, and the American Institute of Healthcare & Fitness.
Chris has a bachelor’s degree in biology from East Carolina University and an MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
